Rubin Goldstein

Born December 26, 1922

Ruben graduated from Dartmouth High School in 1940.

Ruben has been on many committees throughout his lifetime. His volunteerism has benefited the Town with his expertise.

He was on the Dartmouth High School Scholarship Committee

He served on the Dartmouth Finance Committee from 1965 to 1970 and was Chairperson from 1969 to 1970.
A Dartmouth Town Meeting Member for over 40 years.
He helped to produce programs for Dartmouth Cable Television.
A member of the Consolidated Milk Producers Association for twenty-five years.
On the Board of Directors for the Local Dairymen’s Cooperative Association, Inc.
Was a Member of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Bedford.
Tifereth Israel Congregation House Committee Chairman and on the Membership Committee.
Volunteered on Coastline Elderly Service.

He was an important part of the 350th celebration of the Town with his history of the Bliss Corner area. He grew up in that area and remembers the street cars that went down Dartmouth Street and the people who lived in Bliss Corner and along Dartmouth Street. Some of his memories are of Mr. Watkins who was a descendant of a slave.

Amelia Jones who owned the Sol E Mar Farm supplied milk to St. Luke’s Hospital and also funded the TB clinic. There was a stone wall that ran along Dartmouth Street on her property.
